How do I do a traceroute/tracert?

By doing a traceroute or tracert, you can help us diagnose common connectivity issues, and where a fault may exist between you and our services.

Follow the instructions below:

  1. Click on your start menu and select "Run". Type in "cmd" and press enter.
    Note:
On Vista and Windows 7 or 8, there may not be a "Run" option. Instead, just click on the start menu and type in "cmd"
  2. A black window will appear. Type in "tracert myhost.nz" and also "tracert yourdomain.co.nz" where yourdomain.co.nz is replaced with your domain url without the http://.
  3. Click the icon in the top left of the command window
  4. Scroll down to 'Edit'
  5. Choose 'Select All'
  6. Press the 'Enter' key to copy
  7. Paste the clipboard contents into your email message
